Editorial

Commemorative editorial project developed as a conclusion of the Design course, inspired by the classic work of Lúcia Machado de Almeida. The concept is based on the perspective of the murderer known as the Insect: his obsession and compulsion for beetles led him to a psychotic break, triggering a series of murders. This vision guided the entire creation: the insect appears as a central symbol, represented in different species throughout the narrative.

The process involved illustrations of various beetle species, explored in studies and variations until reaching the ideal representations. In parallel, a grid, color palette, and typography were defined, composing the visual identity marked by the thin line between uncontrollable desire and irresistible obsession for something or someone — reflecting the character's mind and the mysterious atmosphere of the narrative. Each chapter received a specific beetle as a graphic element, functioning as a visual clue and thread of the reading. After the development of the chapters, the rest of the book was built on the same concept, incorporating beetles, textures, and colors into elements such as the table of contents, cataloging sheet, sections about the author, and the cover page. For the cover, an illustration of a unique beetle was created, different from those appearing inside the book, reinforcing its identity as the central piece of the project.

The result is an edition that unites concept, aesthetics, and communication strategy, transforming the classic into a complete editorial experience.
